Making a Backpack for Child?

Does anyone know where i find a back pack pattern and what kind of fabric I can use that is water resistant and washable??

My Julie starts K soon and I need to get cracking!..

I just saw some patterns at JoAnn's for backpacks and they also have outdoor fabric that could be used for this. Would wear very well and it wouldn't matter if it got dropped in a mud puddle.

I made a backpack for my GG using the Screen Play pattern
"Backpack it" by Nancy Ota patterns.

for my Granddaughter
