I imagine only a chemist would be able to tell what is in it.
Could it be Coka Cola and the recipe is secret or is it really a common product repackaged?

You can get the info if you ask for the MSDS sheet. MSDS stands for Material Saftey Data SHeet. All products must have one in case it is accidentally ingested or other type of issue like it got in your eyes.
If you request one they must give it to you.

I just called the 1-800# and never expected to get thru, thinking that it would just be for USA use.

I was told that it's a synthetic spray starch and number one used by quilters!

It was easy for me to talk to him as I told him the stuff is like gold here (price is ^^^) so he had to convince me why it's so great.

The MSDS is on it's way to me.
Not that it will make much of a difference!

When I need it, I do a search for "Mary Ellen's Best Press Sale" and see where I can get it cheapest. I've gotten in from createforless.com and quiltering-warehouse.com. Not sure about shipping w/ either of those for Canada. Good luck!

I love Best Press but even on sale is too much $$ for me.

Ricky Tims has a recipe but it’s cooked

Diane Gaudynski (http://www.dianegaudynski.net/tips-april.htm) Uses this on her quilts. Scroll to bottom of list

    The one I like ~
Best Press Substitute ~ Mix together:
1 tsp lavender essential oil (found in Walmart/Michaels- candle making supplies or drug stores) Note: optional if allergic to scents.
    3 oz. vodka
Then add to 24oz distilled water in large spray bottle and shake well.
Hint: Vodka is made from potatoes, a natural starch.

I've been trying for years to get the ingredients because of my dd's allergies. It's not something that would make her itch or sneeze but she has life threatening food allergies and we've found the most unexpected sources of her allergens. I have emailed and got no reply. I've tried to call a bunch of times and can never get through to a person. I give up. They obviously don't know that some people need to avoid some ingredients (or at least know what's in there) or they just don't care.

Thanks to you all. I have been travelling today, so haven't been on the computer. Very interesting information. I think I will continue to use my vodka/ water solution. At least if I get really frustrated, I know I am safe drinking it. LOL
