There are the flat metallic threads and I bought some that are very similar to a thicker diameter regular thread. The rounder thread is much easier to sew with on the machine :wink:

make sure you use a metallic needle, loosen your tension a little (just like using invisible thread) and slow down. use a bobbin thread in the bobbin. the needle is the most important the metallic needles eye is shaped to keep from fraying the metallic threads. and if you sew too fast the thread stretches and breaks like invisible thread will.

I loved using the metallic thread for FMQ on 'special gifts.'
Definitely use the metallic needle. I also used the thread extension loop for my machine, but you can use one of those standing ones, to keep the thread feeding nicely and not curl.
