Default Minky Quilt as You Go on a Longarm?

My sis-in-law was getting frustrated with the way the minky fabric creeps around when she was trying to sew the strips with "quilt as you go." Can it be loaded on a long arm and assembled that way? I would think that as long as the backing isn't stretched too much, we could do 'quilt as you go' on the frame and hopefully deal with less shifting between the layers of minky fabric. Has anyone tried this? Or is this a nutty idea? Thanks for any and all advice!

I did a baby quilt and backed it with minky on the frame. It was not a qayg, but it was very easy.

I think I'll try it! I'll let you know whether it turns out nutty-good or insanely bad

It worked! I had to adjust the foot so it could have more room, and then adjust my tension. I still used basting spray so that the strip I'd just sewn on would stay in place when I sewed the next strip down on top of it. My sister-in-law already had the backing and batting spray basted together, so I loaded them together on the backing rail. I would definitely do it again, rather than wrestle the whole thing through my regular machine. It is a very heavy blanket! My sis-in-law is thrilled with the end result and says it must have special sleepy powers because when she cuddles under it, she can't help dozing off!
