chenille potholders

chenille potholders
Has anyone made these? I have been taught to use non washed flannel but I see people using just 100% cotton prints for the chenille. Do you prewash the main fabric? I would appreciate any helpful hints. I have instructions but does not say anything about prewashing.

I have lots of them and love them. No fuzz on mine at all. not frayed like a rag quilt. nice and tight. guess nobody has made them either since no replies except yours. Have a good day.

I made some out of old denim squares. They had already been washed but I don't think it would matter. I use mine for hot pads on the table when I bring a oven casserole to the table. I used the brush to fuzz them up a bit when they were new but after each wash they get fuzzier. I could have just left the edges but I used regular cotton in blue to do the edge or a nice finished look and to prevent the edges from raveling.
