My husband gave me a Journey about 6 months ago. I love it. The needle threader and thread cutter is to die over.

Haven't used it for quilting yet, but have done a lot of machine embroidery on it. There are a couple of things about this machine that I have problems with. It is not very easy to use a 3,000 yard thread cone with it. Need to put a thread stand to the right of it, so it takes a lot of space. With having the bobbin on the top of the machine means that you have to move whatever you are sewing on out from under the needle to put a new bobbin in. Not a problem with machine embroidery as the machine will automatically reposition the fabric in the correct spot for you. Also, for my needs, I'll have to buy several new feet to go with it too.

One thing I'd test a little bit before starting to quilt with this machine is the thread cutter. Depending on how you set your settings, the machine may make tie off stitches before cutting the thread. Depending our your settings, you can end up with little knots on the backside every time you cut the thread. These knots may not be desirable on the backside of the quilt. So play with the thread cutter settings so that you get the results you want.

There's a Yahoo group for these Babylocks too.

Ditto here, Salederer! Aren't we lucky, those of us whose hubbies understand our obsession?

That's just wonderful! I'd suggest you take all the classes they'll give you. I'm experienced at sewing but I still learned some things.

Happy Birthday to you and congratulations. What a fantastic machine. I think hubby needs some extra TLC for that.
