Default My Great Grandmother Quilt

I have the pleasure to complete a quilt my great grandmother started in the 1930s. She hand stitched the blocks and my aunt asked me to finish it (She has had the blocks all this time and never did anything with them.) I would like to keep this as true to the period as possible and am not sure of the type of batting to use. The quilt blocks are in perfect condition - star design - and I'm so amazed at her skill. Each block meets perfectly with the other. I'm thinking of backing it with a cream high quality muslin. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'd love to show you a picture of part of the quilt I completed last night but I've been trying for 2 hours to upload a picture and it keeps failing.

I would hand quilt it with a light all cotton batt and go ahead and back it with the muslin you mentioned.
Hope you can get a pic on eventually. It sounds nice.

My grandmother made her own cotton batting from the cotton they picked in the field. I never saw her do it so I'm not sure what the process would be. Her quilts were very heavy. Most of them were quilted with the Baptist fan design.

How exciting for you to be able to complete something started so long ago. Not many of us get that opportunity.

I would love to see a picture too! Did you try compressing the picture before uploading? I'm wondering if the file size is to large to transfer?

Default Batting

My GM used cotton batting and she would also buy flannel blankets to use as batting.

I tried to follow the directions on the help site but still couldn't get it to work. Didn't see anything about compressing.
Where is that?
