Need ideas for leftover squares, rectangle blocks
Hi all,
I have about a dozen leftover blocks, things I played with or worked on, and didn't like enough to make into big quilts. They are some string blocks, pinwheels, hourglass, things like that. I want to make them into something and would love some suggestions. They are often square, like 12X12, or 8X8, so I can't make them into I-pad or Kindle covers, and I don't want to make more potholders or table mats, as I have them coming out of my ears!! Ideas?? Cool suggestions? I am looking for things that I wouldn't normally think to make out of these. Thanks in advance!

Once done with a quilt, I prefer not to have any left over blocks. I usually make them into a throw pillow, double sided (if I have two blocks left over), or a pillow case (that way the pillowcase can be used as the gift bag, who wants to spend MORE money on wrapping paper after you've already made a quilt), or sewn into a strip with left over extra fabric from the quilt and safety pinned together as a means of 'wrapping' the quilt for decent presentation to the recipient.
You can also make 36" square small quilts and donate them to your local hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit! I know our unit can always use quilts for the babies who need special attention! Or make small quilts the size that will cover a changing pad for diaper bags. What new mom wouldn't want to receive a thoughtful gift for their newborn??? Changing pad covers would be quick to finish, as they're not big at all! Good luck!
