My last king sized quilt is too short. I measured to the middle of my dust ruffle, but the quilting process shortened it. I am going to make another but I want it to be the correct size. Is there a guide for how much to add to the finished quilt top to allow for quilting? :?

I don't know of one, I think it's a question of 'how long is a piece of string'.

How long did you make the first quilt that turned out too short, and how short is it? It would also depend if you intend to do a similar amount of quilting as the original. More quilting means more take up.

If I remember correctly, depending on the density of the quilting, they usually pull in about an inch to 2 inches.
