Not sure what you are really asking. When you said it was bench size, my first reaction was, put threads in the center of all the 9 patches, then take it to church and use it as a prayer quilt. Our church does this - when we have someone that is ill or needs prayers we put it in the narthex for people to tie them and sign a prayer list. Then the quilt is given to the person. The quilts aren't very big, I think about 30 x 36.

I too like it a lot! I think it is cool!! I would do three borders - a brick red border, a light border then a brownish border.

all these boarder options sound great. You could also add a muslin 6 inch boarder and applique a meandering vine with leaves and flowers.

I'd consider appliquéing big falling leaves in various colors , then add a wide red tone-on-tone border.

Oh these are all great ideas. I never would have thought of most of these. Thanks everyone!

I kind of got into the same groove a while back. Some 500+ squares later... edited to add that mine was made from the pattern for the so easy schlep bag. I love it and it definitely is a conversation piece. But you could definitely do something similar without ripping or removing any of your squares. Lots and lots of bag patterns out there.

Put a big big applique on it, borders, batting and binding.

It is beautiful! What comes to my mind is a quilt that I saw in a Bed and Breakfast while travelling some 8 years ago and that I still find very pretty. So, yes to a white border with applique and a couple of narrower borders etc...

I think it is beautiful. I would just put a border on it.
