I was reading through a bunch of messages last night and saw mention of buying fabrics online and on eBay. Really?!?! For some reason I never thought of it or realized that I could buy fabric online. I'm a maven of online shopping, did all but one thing of my Christmas shopping online this year.

So... I looked at eBAY and did a search on fat quarters and WOW! There are so many out there and fabulous fabrics!! I want to get all of them!! Those fat quarters in a collection are the way to go for me, they are like the jewels and I can get one or two large yardarge to set them in.

Before I start buying does anyone have a favorite seller they buy from and have good experience with?

I saw some good deals like 50 fat quarters for $50. I just paid $28 for 20 fat quarters the other day.

Oh dear, now we've done it! Just wait until those squishy packages start coming in the mail, they are a delight! I've found that eBay fabric sellers are fabriholics like us. Even if I only buy one FQ from someone, they wrap it up in tissue, secured with a nice shiny gold label, before wrapping it in plastic, then an envelope. So nice to open!

Be careful of shipping charges though, some people sell at low prices but then sting you with unreasonable postage fees.

I have bought a lot of fabric on e bay...great stuff....but sone was not :?

I also bought about 150 quilting magazines of all ages. I still haven't looked at all of them yet :D So beware very addictive :wink:

I buy fabric online when I can't find what I want locally. I go to www.quiltshops.com and type in the name of the fabric and the word sale, click on thumbnails and when the shops come up, I cruise through them until I find the cheapest price. The last purchase, I saved around $7.00 on the 3 yards I ordered....including shipping.

they don't pay seller's fees on shipping charges. add together your total cost and then divide by yards. if it's a deal, it's a deal. ;-)

Very, very addictive. For beginners, a great way is to search is:

the *'s are wild cards.

So... If someone puts in 'quilting kit' or 'quilt kits' in a title, you'll still find it. You can get some great kits, no stress in the fabric choices. I started out that way, got some WONDERFUL deals, and I'm no longer intimidated on choosing fabric. One thing at a time! Learn to make the blocks without the stress of "did I pick the fabric right?"

I also have TONS of FQs bought on e-bay. Don't give up your day jobs...you'll need the cash!

try the fabshophop!!!(www.fabshophop.com) You'll see about 200 shops for the one that ends next week. its fun, and you can ad shops to a favorites list with comments so you know where to look next time. How it works is on the site. I never knew what all was out there....amazing!!..addictive!!..fun :lol: :lol:

When I first started, I searched ebay for "fabric lot" or "lot of quilting *.*" It was like Christmas around here for quite a while. I'd get big huge boxes of everything!!! I had a ball...now I have so much stuff crammed into my tiny spaces that I don't have room to buy like that anymore...it sure is fun though!!

I'll check them out. There was one place I looked at and I cannot find it now. I have looked at every site in my browser history and it's not there. It was a very professional site with all Moda fabrics, I believe. I should have bookmarked it. I don't know if it was through eBay or not.

I like kits too and I've done a few. I had one that I never did do and I don't think I'm going to so, I am using the fabric for another project. Of course it's already nicely coordinated!
