Okay I finally decided to try out the OBW (one block wonder). I took a yard of really obnoxious fabric, found the repeat (or as close to a repeat as this fabric had) and started cutting my triangles. But when putting them together I realized that I had used the wrong triangle tool. The one I used was not 60 degrees, probably more like 55 degrees.

Bugger!!! Going out today to buy a 60degree triangle.

I'm sure I can figure out a way to usae all these triangles I just cut, they just won't be a OBW. Luckily I had only used 1 yard of fabric since thid was more of a test than a quilt.

So, does the fabric look better since you cut it up?!

how can you do a OBW with just one yard of fabric. Don't you need at least 4 repeats.

A OBW needs 6 repeats. You can make a small quilt with one yd of fabric. You can cut the fabric in half length wise, and then find the 3 repeats in each half. I have some fabric with medium sized designs that this will work well with :D:D:D

Im confused too. I've never been able to do a OBW with less than 2 yards. (12" repeats is the smallest I've ever seen, needing 6 sets of the repeats = 72" of fabric) Would love to know how to get some blocks out of just one yard though. Please share that tidbit.
