Bear, I do all of those, too, by preference. Along with hand basting with quilt clamped to a table, and using my long ruler's diagonal angle lines to make cuts for which there are all kinds of do-diddly fancy rulers now. (Having every ruler made hanging my the wall would so overwhelm me....just like shopping in the mall does!!!) I learned to use the older implements so well that I get full use from their properties, thankfully.

I just started another EPP project. I'm aware that it would MUCH faster without the paper, however, I do like all the cutting, basting, stitching... It is very relaxing for me and in some ways the process of "getting there" counts as much as the finished project (not what I would do as a gift for someone with a deadline!).

I recently returned from visiting my sister in Indiana. She introduced me to her neighbor, a quilter who makes beautiful queen-size quilts -- all by hand, including the piecing! She had just completed another hexagon quilt (not a GFG), but I've forgotten how many hexagons she said was in it. Her work is probably not "show worthy," but amazing nonetheless.

I enjoy the hand sewing of the binding to the back of the quilt, hand quilting (which I find very relaxing) and needle-turn appliqué. I have always enjoyed hand sewing whether it was crewel or regular embroidery. Not a fan of cross stitch though. My eyes don't travel along the lines of the weave very well. Too stressful for me. LOL
