I have an old Kenmore sewing machine that I took to be repaired. Was told it couldn't be done. What the repair sheets says is "Machine's stitch length dial has a broken mounting plate".

This is a Kenmore 158.1789280. I have to manual to it but can't figure out which is the mounting plate. Any help would be appreciated.

I so want to donate this machine and not fill up the landfill. It should still have a lot stitches left in it.

    Thanks!

Also try joining the wefixit group at Yahoo groups. There might even be a vintage Kenmore group on Yahoo.

Where is the group that talks about sewing machines?
I seemed to have taken myself out of the main group.

Thank you so much!! I'm going to purchase the part and then donate the machine to olebat for the 4Her's.

I hated to sent it packing without a chance of repairing it!! I'm sure she's still got a lot of stitches left in her.

Thanks again so much!!! Can't wait to get the part and have her purring again!
