Default One of the coolest things on a quilt

So I finally made it to a guild meeting here and the ladies were wonderful. The guild does Quilts of Valor and Babylove. They had gotten in a box of quilts for Quilts of Valor from a guild in the states and a couple had a checkerboard pieced into the back with a pieced pocket and a baggy of checkers. Thought it was a cool idea. Thought I'd share.

I like that idea. Might have to make a lap quilt for grandchildren with checkerboard on back. I think they would like it. Thanks for sharing. We love new ideas.

That would also be a great idea for nursing homes! Hats off to the clever person who thought that one up!

I have a quilt pattern that contains a few different game boards that make up a table runner sized quilt... I had ordered a book from Amazon that was used. The book had 2 unused patterns tucked inside. It was a cool surprise

Have any of you seen or done one of these? I think they are cool, but haven't managed to get one done yet.

I had started one for my son, and forgot about it. Maybe need to dig it out. Saved bottle caps for the checkers.

I am in the process of makiing two quilts for the neighbor children. I found some fabric at a local art craft shop where people donate leftover artsy stuff and then it is sold. I bought two cotton fabric maps, one of the United States (which shows the name of the state, capitol and picture of the State Bird and State Flower). That became the backing for the quilt. The other one is of the world and that, too, will be the backing! The children are little, but smart and I thought this would be a nice warm quilt, usable on both sides and a learning tool also! Gosh, we're good, aren't we?????? Edie
