I have always wanted to put buttons on baby quilts but always afraid they could harm baby. What is your opinion?

I would never put buttons on a baby quilt because they can harm the baby if they come off. The exception is if the quilt is to be used as a wall hanging.

I agree that they look cute, though.

I would not put buttons on a baby quilt. Those little fingers can get things loose you would never believe.

I would say no. Baby quilts get laundered a lot, the buttons could get loosened an eventually come off.

nope, never have. If one broke and something happened I would feel bad forever. You can sew them on tight but they can always break.

No buttons on baby quilts. The rule is if it can fit through a toilet paper tube it's too small for babies. Buttons definitely fall into that category.

Instead of real buttons I have used circles of fabric sewn on and once added black fabric paint for the button holes.

Raw edge applique would add some texture. That would be my preference. Maybe a cross stitch in the middle to make it look like a button.
