It pays to be patient
I participated in a block party, in 2013, that you had to buy the different blocks from many quilt shops. It was interesting because you got to see the other shops and what they had to offer. The blocks were $10 each. I completed the quilt, 88x104, and wanted to back it with the same fabric as the quilt top but it was cost prohibitive. I kept checking every day to see if any shop had a discounted price. On Friday I got an e-mail from Hancocks-Paducah that they were having a big sale. Went to the site and was casually strolling through the sale fabrics when I spotted the fabric I needed for $4.96 a yard. Needless to say I jumped on it and ordered it. Will post a picture after it is quilted.
This is the latest quilt that I have done.

I agree with you. I have had this flamingo fabric for some time and wanted some companion fabrics for it. But, the fabric was odd in coloration, so it has taken years to finally find the other fabrics to "go" with it. I am stoked! It will be the third in line project from the one I am finishing up now.

Awesome!
I've been hitting up the monthly end of bolt sales to find lengths to use for backing. Friday, I'm planning to buy the rest of the bolt of a cream on cream that I really like for backgrounds and will look at what else might be available.
Cheers, K

Congratulations on your great find. I'm sure every time you see this quilt you will be reminded of it. For me part of the fun of quilting is the hunt. I always shop the sale rooms/displays of any shop that I go in. Sometimes they are hard to find and I have to ask but I have found some great fabrics there for 50% off. I also have made some theme quilts (music, car, safari, monkey) that I have searched for several years to find a variety of fabrics. The car and monkey were especially challenging because they were for adults and most of the fabric I found was juvenile in nature or I was finding the same fabric over and over. Sometimes it's very hard to be patient though...
