The most efficient way to sell fabric is by weight. Order large size flat rate boxes from the post office (free!) and pack them with fabric - maybe by color. Write the color on the lid fo the box and tape it shut. Weight a few of the boxes and you can calculate the approximate number of yards - about 3 to 3.5 yards per pound. While you are packing boxes, make your 300 posts here. Or join SewItsForsale group on Yahoo.
If you don't need the money, call your local guild or quilt charity - they will be happy to help you!
I know it is hard , but as you as send away the fabric you do not *love*, you will find treasures that will inspire you to make more quilts. When I downsized my books, for example, I donated hundreds and found one that was so lovely to read. It was well worth the effort!

There are several of us who live in Texas. Do you need some to come and help you to organize? To deliver fabric to groups who will make charity quilts or otherwise help you out? You speak about thinking about dying with all of your fabric left behind. When my mother was getting older she did not have the energy to deal with large problems like your fabric might be. This is why I am asking if you need help.
I definitely do NOT mean to imply that any of us would come and help ourselves to your fabric, only come and be willing hands to help a fellow quilter. There must be some of us some of us in reasonable distance - 100 miles or so- of you.

I stayed once at a campground in Zapata, TX. The women there make crib quilts for St. Jude's hospital in TN. I am sure if you are interested in giving away fabric, these women would take it. Also I know a campground in Harlingen that makes quilts also for the poor, I bet they would take it.
