Default Possible to Sit & Cut Fabric?

I managed to stand & cut 6" squares today but my back & feet are in agony. I only stood for 3 hrs tops. I have a low coffee table in my living room & I thought maybe I could sit & cut. Opinions & Thoughts please?

I cut in the floor. So yeah it is possible. I am sitting on my knees for the most part but I guess if you are high enough for a good angle and with enough control, cut how you want.

It is worth a try -- the coffee table might be too low. It all depends on the height of your chair. I have sat on a bar stool at my kitchen counter to cut when my back hurt -- it was a struggle. I put a new blade in the rotary cutter and had an easier time cutting.

just be very careful that you don't cut towards yourself.

I have a small adjustable table that we bought at someplace like Office Depot or Staples or maybe Costco. I has just enough table top to put a med cutting matt on and comfortably cut while sitting on my couch. I has various levels that the height can be adjusted to. It works great.

I sit and cut all the time. The only time I stand is if I'm cutting a lot of layers of fabric, and that is rare. I sit and cut and watch t.v. I can go for hours like that.

I have one, maybe the same as you. I cut sitting down all the time, I don't think I have ever cut out a quilt standing. I do stand to square off, and add borders. I have lain the quilt on the floor in the living room and sew all the blocks and rows together.
Sorry your back and feet hurt. Try a chair that can be raised.

I sit and cut at the dining room table, except sometimes for long cuts and on fleece. However, for cutting squares, the table works fine for me. I am tall, and maybe that makes it easier.

Thanks for all the great ideas!! I used to always stand and cut, but now with blood clot problems and leg swelling, I needed to find another way..Will look for that adjustable table!!
