Oh, I love your finish postage stamp quilt, what a great solution for a quilt you weren't happy with! Looks wonderful now!

I'm thinking of cutting up my 1600 quilt to make a purse.

I cut up a couple of strips into 2.5 inch squares and inserted the squares at the end of each strip. It broke up the long strips nicely...however...I then commenced to sew it as instructed in the 1600 video...mine turned out too long and narrow and has I must say become a UFO.

I am so glad to see others wanting to change the 1600 top it was one of my first and still unfinished.

I haven't been interested in making a 1600 - seemed rather boring. However, recutting and using it as background for applique makes for a stunning quilt! Can't wait to try it. Of course, I have to add it to my bucket list,but I do have several jelly rolls ~ ~ ~

Great idea! I don't like the 1600 quilts either. I've made a couple of them - ended up cutting them into smaller quilts and donating them to QFKs. They seemed okay smaller. I really like the cut up version!!

What great ideas these all are. Makes me want to go ahead and make a 1600 quilt and see what it happens!

I have! I can't find my camera (AUUGH!) or I would post pictures...I did a 1600 out of black/brown/yellow batiks and then cut it apart into 6-1/2" squares on the bias and then re-assembled those into 4-patch squares with black sashing between and black borders them to enlarge the quilt. It turned out pretty good! I gave it to my FIL for Christmas, he really liked it. :) It came out sort of evoking a feeling of inlaid wood due to the colors.
