I have 5+ yards each of 2 fabrics that I would like to use for a 2 color quilt--how can I get the biggest "bang for my buck" and get the biggest quilt possible? I can use other fabric for the backing. Would love to be able to get a full/queen top if possible--What pattern would you use?

Hunter's Star!!! Shouldn't be much wastage. I also love winding ways, but there will be alot more waste

there really are tons of quilts made for just two fabrics. There was a book a few years ago, but it fails me who wrote it at this moment. any star pattern, will work even a disappearing 9 patch could be done!

Potato Chip pattern. I made one with only
3 1/2 yds of one color and 5 yards of another. I love the way it turned out. |

I would say Hunter's Star. although there are lots of traditional 2 color quilts. I checked out drunkard's path with 6" squares, QuiltPro says it will take 5 1/8 yd each for 72x96, although their layout could be more effective use of fabrics.

My favorite 2 color quilt is Day & Night Quilt from Quilt in a Day.
