Can rotary cutters fly?
 

Help! Can I take my rotary cutter in my carry-on on the plane? I mailed it to myself when I came to my vacation home, and it took forever (even by priority mail). I really want to just bring it with me when I come home today!

Put it in checked baggage, not carry on.

When I was doing cross stitch I bought a special pair of toddler scissors for cutting thread.... they never made it onto the plane!! My daughter gave me a "necklace" that has a nitch in it that cuts thread. No good for you. But, why on earth would you want a rotary cutter on a plane for, anyway? Oh, if you don't plan to check in luggage! Oh yeah, I do that too.

Definitely NOT. If you want to keep it, pack it in a checked bag - otherwise consider it a donation to TSA. Speaking of which ... TSA might not know what it is and the mere fact that it is in your posession might be an invitation to a more thorough search ... if you get my drift.

Why not leave that one there and get one that stays home? Use a 50% off coupon.

I just flew Air West and to check any luggage, you had to pay $25 for the first piece. Maybe that's why she wanted to know if she could carry it on. Can't even check in luggage for free anymore with them. Might be cheaper to buy a small cutter at your destination if you have to pay to store your luggage.

You could take the cutter only, without the blade. This would be helpful if there is a place near where you are going that you can buy new blades. Or you could mail a package of blades to where you are going.

Though the image of the cutter actually flying across a room is all to realistic.

I also thought at first that the cutter went flying! I have had things feel like they jump right out of my hand as if they were alive and escaping!

Take the blade out and dispose of properly. Buy a new blade when you get to where you are going.

Is this yours only vacation home or do you share it with others as in family/friends or a timeshare? If its yours only, just leave a small quilting/sewing case there. Maybe even a spare machine - pick one up off of Craig's list even.
