Has anybody used a card table for their sewing machine? I currently have my machine on an old desk and the desk has sides on it, so I'm not able to lay a quilt out to quilt it, and sewing together rows of blocks is kind of annoying.

Would a card table be too shaky?

Depends on the card table. Some are fairly sturdy. Some are just plain rickety. And how heavy your machine is.

I have seen some that may be sturdy enough, but I don't know how much I would be willing to trust them with my machines.

I think it depends on the card table. If you find a sturdy one I think it would be fine. Have you tried the craft table at Costco? They seem pretty sturdy to me and they come in two sizes I believe.
Hope this helps.

When I've tried it, the table "bounces" when sewing. Might work if you had a very sturdy card table made of wood.

It's a Brother LS2125, so it's pretty light.

I would take off the upper part of the desk, but I'm afraid the desk wouldn't be as stable anymore. And I already tried to remove it once and didn't have a way to take the upper part off.

I use a card table for laying out and cutting, a desk for piecing and my kitchen table for quilting.

My card table would be no where near sturdy enough for a machine.
And like you I can not quilt on my desk

If you would need to purchase a table I would suggest the small conference table, 4 foot by 2. I purchased mine at both an office supply store (over $40) and at Walmart (under $40). Both are good and stronger then the card tables I've tried.

I use/used a card table with no problems. Only problem I ever had was shaking while sewing fast with a light weight machine. When I used my heavier machine I had no problems.

I use a card table all the time  The only problem is if I try to sew at top speed , it does get shaky  Which reminds me to slow down

I have a Brother CS6000i
