chair for sewing room

Hi all.....my husband has been hounding me about what I want for my birthday. Well, last night when I was sewing and trying to get my folding chair to move back I thought I would ask him for an office chair on wheels for my sewing room. My question is do I want one with arms, or without? Any other suggestions?

Finally - a question I feel qualified to answer. I think the arms just get in the way. You really don't use them anyway . Also, I would "bite the bullet" and go for a good one right off the bat - it'll be cheaper. Ask me how I know. Happy birthday!!

I would go without arms - sometimes the arms get in the way of being able to fully turn. Also when you are sewing, your arms aren't going to be on the arms - they are going to be out in front of you. I would suggest that you go with him to pick out a chair. My husband is 6 ft 3 inches and what feels good to him is too large for me. Get a good chair with good lumbar support, a back that can me moved to be more upright rather than reclining, a seat that fits your bottom, and the ability to adjust the seat height. Happy birthday!

No arms, they get in the way and knock everything off the table. You should go with hubby so you can butt test the chairs for good fit and back support. Try to find one with a back that can be adjusted. Don't try to save money, get a good one, remember how much you will be sitting in it. It's kind of like buying a mattress, it has to fit your body shape. Happy Birthday!

No arms, I had one with arms, quilt always got tangled up with the arms, or I'd get the arms stuck under the edge of my table, with me in the chair. make sure it easily adjust up and down, and is comfortable. Try before you buy, set in it and roll around, if you have carpet in your room try to get it on carpet. Some of those wheels don't roll well on carpet. Good Luck!

Get an anti static mat for carpeted rooms, it makes your sewing chair function better :)

Happy Birthday - I would go for one without arms. Also before you send him out take time to go try some of the chairs - it won't help if he gets you one that isn't comfortable to you. I use (ok everyone can laugh at me) the bunge chair from the container store and several of my friends have used it for a day and loved it. But make sure that whatever he is going to get you works for you. We wouldn't be happy if DH told us he wanted a wrench and we get to the store and find that there are a zillion choices.
