Digital magazines or books

I am curious about digital quilt magazines and books. I use my Nexus for reading and love it. When I see magazines in a similar format I wonder if that would be a good idea. I have piles of quilt magazines which are taking up too much room. This would be a good solution, but I sure love spending an evening with a quilt magazine. Any thoughts?

I LOVE my digital versions of quilting magazines.

My FAVORITE magazine is Quilter's World for 2 main reasons.
First because I get the digital version about 1-3 weeks before
my print copy arrives.
Second because with QW you can download and save to your
computer ALL copies of the magazine including all the archive
issues.

So far of the 5-6 digital magazines I get QW is the only one that
lets me just save to my computer without any other "viewing"
program (McCalls Quilting isn't a friendly for downloading).

I couldn't find the Quilting Quickly magazine at any store in town, so I had to download it. It is nice to be able to do that, but I like my paper copies best. I carry around a stack of them to look through all the time. It would be much easier to have them all organized on my IPad if I could just make myself do it.

I agree with you 100%. I haven't tried any of the others, but Fons & Porter's web site is easy to use, and you can get easy access to their on line bonus features.

I have some of both, I love my printed ones best. I hardly have time to go on the computer to read those but I always have some by my recliner to go through when I take a rest. I can always tare out and use the patterns without any fuss. I get a better picture of the quilts from the printed ones and it does not hurt my eyes as bad as trying to read off a computer screen.

I love my print issues also, it really helps to pass the time when you
have an appointment of waiting for something/someone.

Until the day comes that I get an iPad or or something similar I plan
to keep my favorite print issues.

But I DO like the digital versions though.

I tried to "steal" my husbands iPad, but he wasn't going for that so now
he takes it to work with him.

This made me giggle! Maybe he should just get you one so you wouldn't have to "steal" his!!!

Well that is a "tricky" topic....

His dad gave him his old iPad1 when he got the iPad3. He did this because
he and his wife are ALWAYS needing help with something or another on their
iPads. Up until than my husband (who does NOT like Apple products) used the
excuse to get out of giving tech help by saying he had no idea how they worked
yada yada yada.

Now that he has the iPad he doesn't have that excuse anymore. I told him that
I would like to maybe get the Nexus7 or Nexus10.
He just laughs at me.

I subscribe to the electronic magazine version of both Quilter's World and F&P Love of Quilting. I don't get the hard copies anymore. I love it because I can just take my laptop into my quilt room, pull up the pattern I want and start quilting. (If for any reason I need a hard copy, I just print the pattern out, but that rarely is necessary.) As an added bonus, when you sign up for the e-version of Quilter's World, you also get two years of back issues for free! :)
