I have only been quilting for a couple years, but am absolutely addicted. The problem is my husband doesn't understand this hobby at all. I love to make quilts and then give them away. Although sometimes I request that the recipient buy the fabric, most times I don't. He just doesn't get it. It is absolute bliss for me to make something by myself and then see the reaction of the recipient. Am I the only one with this problem?

My DH understands to well, I was looking at a new machine the other day, called him, said should I get a new one? He said Yes! no hesitation.

My hubby is really good about it...I am the one who feels quilty.

I've made my DH a couple of quilts so he doesn't mind. Have begun to make more for us over the years instead of giving them all away.

Not always. Actually, he told me that I was too obsessed and I needed to spend less time quilting.

My husband doesn't bicker about it, but he doesn't understand. He knows I love it and doesn't have any problems with it. He knows I love giving them. He did ask me if I was going to make a quilt for everyone I know and what would I do when everybody got one...I told him I'd finish his. hahaha But he doesn't get it...I think maybe if he had a hobby, he might understand better.

I have been blessed. He not only understands he helped get Quilter's Pantry started into the longarm business, helped rearrange the den for the biz, set up the racks for my fabric. And commented the other day that it would soon be time for the next 4 foot section of racks!
PLUS he is traveling this weekend and will be stopping at one of my suppliers to buy fabrics for me!
Yes, I am blessed.

My DH is the best! He loves that i am into quilting and is always
supportive. Anything i want to buy for sewing is okay with him.
He bought me a new serger for our Anniversary in Dec because the one i had was "way too old" He is never upset at my stash buying or projects all over the kitchen table. I am the same way about his hobby-deer hunting although i draw the line over the kitchen table thing! We both know the passion in each other's hobbies so it works out all the way around!

My husband is very understanding and is quite proud of the work that I do. We just got home from a three day trip of checking out quilt shops in the southern part of the state. He paid for the entire trip and all the goodies too. It doesn't get any better than that! I know I am blessed and I do not take it for granted. Wishing you the best.

My husband doesnt understand it, but I have always sewn (I made my wedding dress) so he knows it is part of "who" I am. I also use part of the bedroom as my sewing space and it tends to spread and he never says a word. He has learned not to ask how much I spent when I walk in the door with my bags of fabric LOL. It makes me happy so he is fine with that. He loves the quilts I make for him and anything I make for the house. So maybe he does understand more than I had thought lol.
