dowel endings for wall hangings

Can someone help me? I am making some wall hangings for my COA (Council On Aging). I have some 12" x 1/4" dowels, but I need something to go on the ends of them. I went to one place and was going to buy 2 sets of 50 but when I went to check out the shipping was almost $9...almost twice what the product cost. Has anyone found a place to buy these at a reasonable price?

Thanks
Marge

I use wooden knobs I bought at a hardware store. You could also get round wooden balls at a craft store.

I have seen them with buttons glued on the ends.

I have found that old wooden spools are excellent for 1/4 inch dowel ends on wallhangings.

will ribbons bows work with your wall hangings?

I would also check your local hardware store. Bring a dowel with you to check the size.

I have used large buttons, door knobs, drawer pulls, even used a couple of nuts (like in nuts an bolts) on a hanger for a man's wall hanging these were on large dowels.

Didn't even think to put something on the end of the dowels, I just sand the end a little. But I do have lots of wooden balls that I used for another project - great idea.

I usually use wooden beads. Works very well, lots of sizes and colors. Michael's is a good source.
