My husband just found out he is allergic to just about Everything except me, which includes dust. How can I keep the dust of quilting at a minimum?
I spent today cleaning the house a bit more than normal in those hard to reach places to get the dust down. House is generally clean all the time, but wanted to do more to help him out.

Now... I'm going to enjoy the sun for a few and then go sew some seams on my log cabin wall hanging.

My father was allergic to dust - they bought a whole house air filtration system and that did the trick.

My son is major asthmatic. We have no carpet because of dust. His bed and pillows are in protective covers. There is a whole house air filter as well as a HEPA filter in his room. Harvest season is the bane of my existence. Just try to keep the dust out with combines going!!

I have been sneezing like mad this year, i bought a bottle of Clorox Anwhere anti-allergen spray, sprayed the furniture and rug, sneezing has almost stopped. Might help your dh out.

You might try using the upholstery brush attachment on your vacuum on the quilts inbetween washings... I am allergic to dust, I take cloth items outdoors and shake them out too... carpets are the worst, just walking on them stirs up the dust

You are much kinder than I was. DH is allergic to lots of things too (dander, fur, dust, pollen..) I suggested that he could move out. He decided on allergy shots instead.

There are quite a few air filters and air purifiers on the market. I'd suggest investigating them and investing in one.

I'd tell him to stay out of your quilting room!!!

I have severe allergies and asthma. And we live in a VERY dusty area and have two cats and I HATE cleaning house. That being said....I take Zyrtec every day for the allergies during bad times and sometimes I add Sudafed at night. I'm still alive and I'm still quilting. Oh, the cats are still here, too.

I am allergic to A LOT of things, including dust. I quilt, and sometimes I do sneeze while quilting but I find that if we clean the house once every two weeks that it keeps the dust to a minimum. Also, we don't have windows open.

But it also depends on how allergic he is..I think mine is just mild so I am able to manage.
