I wanted to sit and sew.
Machine has to be plugged into an extension.
plugged it to the wall and nothing.
tried all the plug holes nothing.
hit reset button. nothing.grrrrr
go to fuse box and turn off and on.
plug into all holes again.nothing !!
Moral of the story...............
REMEMBER TO MAKE SURE THE
OTHER END IS PLUGGED INTO THE MACHINE.
I think that says it all !!

erstan947 07-30-2011 06:28 AM

We live, we learn and then we FORGET! Happy it was not the machine:)

yes very happy was not the machine.
it's old and I have used it far beyond it's life expectancy.
I was fully prepared to lift off table for trash and that was when I noticed not plugged to machine.

lauriejo 07-30-2011 06:35 AM

Whoopsie! Been there, done that.

Glad you figured it out and didn't trash the machine or pay a repair charge.

luvnquilt 07-30-2011 08:21 AM

Carron 07-30-2011 08:24 AM

Oh yes, and that terrible feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when the thought crosses your mind that the sewing machine is broken.

You think *that's* bad?

I used to work in the computer area of a large firm. One day I got a call to come to the new area (building addition to which a huge section of the company had just moved) because there was something wrong with a computer. Got to the desk and the screen was black. Clicked the mouse and tapped a couple of keys -- nothing. Said to the user "That's funny. It doesn't seem to have any power." Followed the computer cord to its end, which was sitting on the floor. Asked the user, "Where's the electrical outlet?" User said, "You mean it needs electricity to run?" Turns out the entire section had been built and furnished without electrical outlets for the computers. Still shake my head at that one.......

Yep, did that not too long ago. I wasn't even using an extension cord. The cord had come unplugged from the machine unbeknownst to me

kaykwilts 07-31-2011 05:36 AM

hrtireladie11185 07-31-2011 05:48 AM

This happened to dh yesterday with the iron. He was pressing the backing for his wall quilt. He asked "How do you turn on this iron?" I asked, "Did you turn it to 3 or 4?" "Yes and it is plugged in to the power strip and the power strip is plugged into the wall." Ooops, I forgot to tell him I had turned off the power strip since nothing was plugged into it and it was on wasting electricity. lol.

sewnsewer2 07-31-2011 06:03 AM

 Yeah, that helps.

what's odd is I never unplug from machine unless moving it.
it hasn't been moves since being put there.

jan22 07-31-2011 06:20 AM

We spend so much money for our machines, wouldn't you think they could turn themselves on instantly when touched?? Maybe in the next generation someone will invent that little extra part!!
