A thin cotton fabric for batting helps to hide the seam lines from the quilt top.
Or a heavier cotton print fabric for the backing may be able to do the same.
Maybe when you get the top done, audition some backings and see how they look in the light :D:D:D

I've got a top done and am planning on using a backing of marbled cotton blender, regular fabric strength. We tend to keep the AC around 72 or I can't sleep, the darned anti-estrogens have given me terminal hot flashes! My oncologist wants me to go till Sept, but can live with sooner if I can't sleep.

I use Quilter's Dream Request batting in summer quilts. It is very light and thin. It gives great body to the quilt and remains light.

I've made several summer/counterpane quilts. I do not put batting in them. I was surprised how warm they actually are. I do a scrappy top, and I machine stitch them together doing an all over wandering stitch with a little bit longer stitch length. I can't seem to figure out how to post a picture on this site yet.

I did not know that some people actually put batting in their counterpanes!

We like pictures. In order to post pictures on Quilting Board, you will probably need to reduce or compress the picture to a file size that is smaller than 2MB. How to post images can be found at https://www.quiltingboard.com/attach...020-01-17-.pdf
Don't forget to scroll over to the far right to find and click on the "Upload" button.

I have found that only the big red "Reply" button or "Quote" work to give me the paper clip icon to work for adding pictures.

Or simply - Make sure pictures are smaller than 2MB
Click on red "Reply" button
Click on the paper clip icon
Click browse - choose picture/s. (only 5 allowed per post)
Once they show up as being loaded, Scroll over to the right side and click on "Upload"
After the pictures show up as being attached, you can close that window and go back to the screen to finish posting your post.

We’ve been through a summer here in Florida. The cooler nights aren’t cool enough for me, a/c necessary. There’s 2 regular quilts on our bed. No blankets.

a “summer” quilt is no different to me. In winter, Florida, January, the bed had 3 quilts.

I use the thinnest polyester batting for lightweight quilts.
