So far, for me, Sullivan has really been the best .. does someone have a better one to suggest? I did hear 505 mentioned but have not looked for any yet.

I've only used the June Tailor basting spray, and have never had a problem with it. I think you need to use it sparingly. After spray basting my quilts, I'll never pin again!

I recently bought a can from Walmart for $5, but I found out it works best if I do the sandwich and then let the spray dry for a day or two before actually doing the quilting.
Also I get out my duct tape and fasten the four corners down tightly to the floor. In the summer, I do wash down of the driveway and go outside to do my sandwich, gives the neighbors a reason to come over and see what you are doing! |
You may have oversprayed. This is the problem I had when I started spray basting. It just needs a little. Also, I spray starch the back, lay it flat for at least 24 hours before I start FMQ so it can really, really dry.

I use the craft spray from Hobby Lobby. Needed to learn not to use too much or I had problems. Less is better with these sprays. Large can about $7.

glad to see this topic, i was just thinking about buying spray and giving it a try this week. think i'll stay with pinning.

505 is the best spray. I use it sparingly for embroidery too. I buy 505 from Shoppersrule.com I believe the big sized can is on sale now.

I hate to go back to basting by hand. Uny Ideas?
