I guess you have your support!!! Yes, that is a great idea....closets (shelves) lots of room.....ya need any help in moving furniture???

I have a friend who did exactly what you are talking about. It worked great for her and I'm sure it will be fine for you too.

It's your house do as you please. I'd wanted a LA for years, finally last April my DH and I ordered a Nolting Fun Quilter 17" on a 10 foot frame. I was like you, it would fit in the living room which is not used normally, we use the family room, but then I didn't want anyone coming in and seeing the LA in the living room. The other place that it would fit was in our master bedroom which is about 16x18 feet, so with rearranging the furniture the LA has a home along a 16 ft. wall with me having room to get around the LA with no trouble. As for my sewing room, it's still the 3rd bedroom and that is where it will stay. Don't want to change the set up that I have for piecing and regular sewing. In my kitchen when we had the house built, I have a very large wide counter top that I can lay my cutting board and watch TV if I want too.

Don't feel weird about putting your LA where you want it, it is what you enjoy doing.

I live in a very old home that has 2 bdrms. I sleep in the small bdrm and had a little work done in the larger room so that I could use it for my sewing/computer room. Opened up the closet, inserted shelves and use that area for my computer and the rest of the room houses my two sewing machines, serger and embroidery machine along with tables and storage cabinets. I spend most of my leisure time in that room so it works perfectly for me.

I too live alone in a 4 bedroom house, the largest room - which would be the living room in a 'normal' person house is my studio, the living room - not a bedroom- is full of my finished work, a temporary situation until I get it all added to my website, and one bedroom as well as the bathroom and currently the breakfast nook is full of sewing stuff.

Do it!! We've made so many "safe" decisions in our house based in what we thought would be best for resale. Well, we've been here 26 years and looking back, there a a lot of things I would have enjoyed in the house , that maybe would've suited just us, but now...Just DO IT !!!

I'd even consider putting a mini fridge and small microwave in the bathroom if there is one connected to the master. Then you could just forget the rest of the house!!!!!

I already did this at our house. I spend more in my sewing room now that it is in the master bedroom on the first floor. We now have our bedroom in the larger guest bedroom, the guestroom is the medium sized bedroom and the smallest bedroom(previously the old sewing room) is now the office. Do what feels right to you and enjoy.

I love this "whatever it is" that allows sewing/crafters/young or old ladies (and the man who might be looking over our shoulders) to peruse and enjoy each other's company and comments. I even occasionally have my cup of coffee here with me while I visit. I have been sitting here for over two hours and am starving to death; can't get my husband to fix me something to eat.

So, my thoughts are, you do it (and if you are not able to do it alone, snag the first kid who comes over to visit and y'all do it). I watched the video of the lady's new sewing room and love love love it--she is way more organized than I am, but I have a sewing room built especially for me in our back yard; accomodates my Gammill long arm quilter and table, plus a ton (and I probably do mean a ton) of fabric, about a hundred sewing machines because I have more money than I do sense when I see a machine at a yard sale for $5, my cutting table, pictures on all the walls where there isn't a shelf loaded down with fabric--you get the idea. And I have been in a funk since Christmas and can't make my self go out there and clean it up from the Christmas sewing rush, so it is in a mess, and I don't want to face it (and can't talk a kid into coming over here and helping me get it ready for my next project. Oh well.
