We tried for a meet and greet a few months ago but dates just didn't work out. Is anyone still interested in getting together? I can offer my house as a place to meet. Plenty of coffee, tea, cookies . . . . Bring along something you're working on or just come to chat. Perhaps sometime in January or February?

Jen

amma 12-30-2009 02:42 PM

I would love to in February!!! January is kinda booked up for me :D:D:D

sew cornie 12-30-2009 02:46 PM

It would be a bit of a drive for you, wouldn't it? But I'd love to meet you amma. I always enjoy reading your comments on threads. I figure a weekend is probably best so as not to exclude those who work during the week.

sew cornie 01-03-2010 09:29 PM

Putting out a second call . . . anyone interested in getting together?

amma 01-03-2010 09:48 PM

It's not that far...My family all live in the Vancouver area... the drive is not that long :D:D:D

dunster 01-04-2010 09:18 AM

I would love to come. I didn't see this the first time you posted. Maybe send a pm to all those living in OR and WA?

Charlee 01-04-2010 09:25 AM

I'd love to be able to come...but my work days would prevent a weekend. I'm off on Tues/Weds...but I'd certainly love to see pictures when y'all DO get together!

Good thought. Ummm . . . any idea how to do that? I know how to find those in OR/WA with the User List, but how do I include everyone in the same PM?

craftybear 01-04-2010 03:45 PM

Hi,

Do a search and type in the state you want and it will bring up members. Good luck as I did this for Indiana and have met some new friends.

I don't know of a way to send a PM to more than one person at a time. You could PM admin or Patrice and ask if there's a way. I do know it's best to search for ", OR" or ", WA" rather than for "Oregon" or "Washington" since some people put in abbreviations for the state. (If you don't put in the ", " you get extraneous results.)

If you copy the text of your message, it wouldn't take too long to just run down the list of people in your search and paste in the same msg to each one.

BTW, any day of the week is fine for me.

bstanbro 01-04-2010 05:12 PM

Hi--I'd like to get together. Monday afternoons and Wednesday mornings are out, but aside from that, I don't have any regular commitments.

sew cornie 01-04-2010 11:00 PM

Thanks for the suggestions on how to find people. I know if I go to the User List, I can put OR or WA in as the location and it will give me a list of all the members in those states. But, oh my, what a lot of PM's that is! I'll check with Admin on the best way to get the word out. In the meantime, if you know any of the other local boardmembers, please invite them to check out this thread.

I'm also going to change the thread title, giving the date. While school is in session, I can really only host on a weekend, and since I've offered my home, I checked my calendar for availability and hope this works for as many of you as possible.

Open House, Sunday Feb. 7th, 1:00-4:00pm

Please PM me if you are able to come and I'll give you my address, etc.

Oklahoma Suzie 01-05-2010 03:25 AM

I wish I could go, but it is too far for me.

sew cornie 01-05-2010 03:06 PM

Admin says I can't do a mass PM. I'll see about the cutting and pasting option. I'd like to really get the word out to local folks, but don't know about doing 60+ PM's . . . .  Please pass the word along! ;)

Debbie54 01-05-2010 09:44 PM

Well I would love to come as well, I live in Powers, way south though. I will try to figure something out if it comes together

sew cornie 01-06-2010 03:28 PM

I'd love to have EVERYBODY come . . . but my house is only so big. LOL.

ladygen 01-06-2010 03:39 PM

That sounds like so much fun (even though I'm so new and nobody knows me...)! Oregon is just a little too far for me to travel for a day trip, as well.

I'd certainly love to attend something like this though - I'd even be (maybe..?) willing to host something of the sort as well... at some point... It sounded lie a great idea until I typed it.. now it just sounds intimidating!

It sounds like fun, anyway, and I wish I could make it!

Welcome to the Board, Ladygen! Glad to have you here. :D Sorry you won't be able to make it to the Open House, but I can see how that would make for an exceptionally long day. I think it would be fun to try to have get togethers a few times a year. Maybe quarterly? I'm sure we could spread the locations around the region to make it more accessible for those who live further out. We'll have to see what develops down the road.

Again, welcome aboard!

ladygen 01-06-2010 09:09 PM

Thanks for the warm welcome!

It would be so much fun to get together quarterly or so. I could even justify this upcoming one... if I wasn't going to retreat the weekend before and leaving me 2 1/2 year old for three days. I just can't seem to be okay with leaving for another WHOLE day (I'm a SAHM, see) the following weekend!

Definitely would love to do something of the sort, though!

sew cornie 01-06-2010 09:15 PM

I completely understand. I'm a SAHM too. My guys are 3 and 5. It certainly can be hard to be gone for too many days in a row. Hope you enjoy your retreat!

Karen

The only problem is lots of people no longer have their state listed because of the Secret Quilt Angel stuff!

Wine Woman 01-06-2010 09:57 PM

Sounds fun-I'm glad to see someone is doing this. If I'm not pouring at our local wine event you can count me in! I'll pm you.

ScubaK 01-06-2010 10:13 PM

I would love to come but I think I am usually working on Sundays!!!
I am going to be asking for a couple days off later in the month to go to Expo...
Wish we could do it in March!!!
Kirsten

Sparky 01-06-2010 10:35 PM

I just saw this when looking for something else. What a wonderful idea. I think I can make arrangements. I will PM you.

2 Doods 01-07-2010 06:35 AM

grammy Dwynn 01-07-2010 06:57 AM

I would love to meet everyone . . already met dunster at the Lebanon quilt show (which I have pics of us on my webshots page (see addy below)). Joeyoz and I always love a reason for a road trip. We live south of Eugene. Our only conflicts, end of this month~retreat, end of next Expo in Puyallup.

sew cornie 01-07-2010 02:04 PM

I'm so glad there has been interest in this. Just a reminder: if you'd like to come, please PM me for my address and phone number.

Thanks,
Jen

yourstrulyquilts 01-07-2010 11:16 PM

sounds like fun..............wish I could get away!

Debbie54]Well I would love to come as well, I live in Powers, way south though. I will try to figure something out if it comes together

Hi Debbie54, I know where Powers is , I grew up in Coquille. I dated a guy from Powers.
Connie

yourstrulyquilts 01-07-2010 11:30 PM

Wow! I grew up in Powers and dated a guy from Coquille. Who did you date?

sew cornie 01-19-2010 01:55 PM

This thread has been quiet for a while . . . thought I'd bring it back to the forefront in case any other local folks haven't seen it yet.

I believe we have 4 confirmed so far. PM me if you'd like to come. Amma, bstanbro, and dunster, have I given you my info yet?

Feathers 01-21-2010 12:06 AM

SewCornie: If it isn't too late to sign up, I think I'd love to come to your 2/7/10 open house. If you have a houseful already, just let me know but if not, count me in. What can I bring?

sew cornie 01-21-2010 01:54 PM

Feathers, glad to have you join us! I'll PM you with my address.

sew cornie 01-21-2010 02:02 PM

Several of you have asked me about bringing something to the open house. I'll have coffee, tea, punch, and some cookies to share. Anything you'd like to bring is welcome, although I'd request that all items are peanut/tree nut free, as we have severe allergies in our family and try to keep our home as safe as possible for our kids.

Another thought: what do you all think of doing a fat quarter swap that day? Bring a FQ along, take a different one home?

2 Doods 01-21-2010 02:47 PM

It is coming up! It will be fun to finally meet some of you.
A fat quarter exchange sounds fun!
Thanks, Sewcornie for being our hostess!

Margie 01-21-2010 02:50 PM

If all the people from PA charter a plane, hmmmmm wonder how much that would cost.....could buy lots of fabric lol....maybe a new machine.

I will be with you in my heart....have a wonderful time...I sure would love to meet people on this board.

Margie

Two Doods: So happy to hear you are going to be there. Don't know if you remember but about 2 years ago you and I PM'd about maybe meeting for coffee sometime when I was in the area but it never happened. I look forward to meeting you.

Oh, I so want to go! Have lots of fun for me, too!!
