In the class I took I learned how to do a 4patch and flying geese. Since then I've done a 9 patch and a shaded 4 patch. I'm working on a broken dishes lap quilt for my 12yo and its not too bad but I hate her colors! So I'm just wondering what other blocks are easy that you like. I think the more praxtice I get on easier blocks the easier the harder ones will be! I love older looking quilts too.....not contempory.

Have you worked with half square triangles yet? I have a book that my sister gave me with many blocks. Some, I feel, could be done by a beginner. Also you may want to check out Quilterscache. She has a listing in her site that shows which blocks are easier than others by putting 1,2,or 3 pins next to the name of the block.

I LOVE the Disappearing 9 Patch, it is simple, can be used with just two fabrics or 9 whatever you want to make it totally scrappy, with numerous ways of arranging it :D

My all time favorite is the log cabin. It was the first quilt block that I had made.
