I have all my pieces cut out and am about to put the quilt together. But, I cannot figure out the directions for placement of all the pieces. I can't believe people say this is an easy quilt. My neighbor and I are each doing one and neither of us understand the directions. Can someone out there please help. This is the yellow brick road quilt.

Do you not have the actual pattern for this quilt?

The directions on the pattern tell you how to place all those cut pieces lettered in order A-N.. What is it that you cannot figure out. I guess I'm not understanding what your question is. When you get all your blocks done, It's totally up to you how you want to put them together.

From what I remember off hand is that there are three different blocks to be made...the first two blocks are made from the fabric cut and the third block is made from new strips of fabric cut and uses fabric left over from the second block. (I think) Everytime I have made this quilt I have to read and reread the directions. Maybe a trip to your LQS (Local Quilting Store) would be good because they can show you in person how to make the blocks. Sorry if I made a mistake in my directions>>>just check it out with your LQS...Good Luck

Which line of directions are you having trouble with? I thought they were pretty clear, especially with the little images included next to each step.

Yes I have the directions. I have made more than 20 different quilts but have never had problems with the directions like I am having with these directions. I would never suggest this pattern to a beginner. Maybe I am just having a bad day and things are clicking right for me.

It appears to me that each block is done placing the pieces in different places. Am I correct in that?

The pieces are sewn together just like the little photos show in the pattern. Try going back to the beginning of the first step. Each step changes to a different UNIT and from those units.... another Unit is made. What I did was label all my units first and then I sewed the units together.I hope this helps some.

Okay, I have pulled out my instructions, as I made this quilt about 3 months ago. I actually agree that the instructions are not as clear as instructions I have had on other quilts, but I was able to figure it out. What I finally had to do was cross out all of the "numbers" that did not apply to me.

For example, under instruction B....I was using 8 fat quarters, so I crossed out the 4,12,16,20, and 32. I did that in each instruction. Then I was able to wrap my mind around it.

Try that and see if it helps any.
