I dislike the cutting also. And I definitely hate correcting my mistakes, however I should be a pro by now with as often as it seems I do it... :lol:

The yucky part...hmmm. I'd have to say basting. Second yuckiest is when a piece of fabric doesn't quite flip and cover the lines on a foundation piece, and I gotta rip those teensy-bitsy stitches out. A close tie with that one would be when the rotary cutter slips and cuts crooked. (Notice how I didn't blame myself! :roll: )

hmmmmm.....sandwiching part, not so fun.... when starting a paper piecing project, the "re-learning" curve that often requires taking out those teeny tiny stitches. Ugh!

I really dislike winding bobbins...especially when I find that I've run out of bobbin thread and I don't have anymore wound and I have to stop and wind a bunch. I need a little elf that sits and winds bobbins as I empty them, so I always have full bobbins... LOL :)

I agree with SD, I've usually sewed about a mile before I realize the bobbin is empty and if I don't have another spool of that same thread I have to cut the top thread, unthread the needle, wind the bobbin/bobbins and rethread the whole mess!
Leslie, I have one of those rotary cutters that can't stay on the right path too!We should get a refund. The part I'm most impatient about is the binding because when that's done it's time for the washer and MAN! do I love taking that thing out of the dryer (well not the blue Irish Chain!) and just burrying my face in it. If it's not real hot weather I wrap in it for a minute or two (don't have time for a whole nap) |
Kathy and Shadow you need to invest in the side winder. I love it! Sure beats stopping in the middle and having to change all your thread....lol.

I discovered another yuky part, the more you work on it the less you like it but you've got too much time and money in it to throw it aside! I'm giving it to my SIL even if I don't like it, I'm going to tell her that!

It's just a little metal disk that has some glue on it, and you stick it opn the end of your finger. It stays on pretty well, and your needle kind of bounces off it because it's rounded. You can use the disk over and over again, because the heat from you skin reactivates the glue, and it comes with several glue disks. You're actually more likely to lost the disk than to run out of the glue thingies. I don't do hand quilting without it anymore!

I have a second machine that I wind my bobbins on, it's the actual sitting there winding them that I detest. Usually I will sit and wind twenty or thirty, but eventually I use them all up and have to do it all over again... Elves!... I need an elf that will sit and wind them while I sew and a few others to clean up after me.... LOL
