I have never liked batiks UNLESS they are in the quilt - weird, I know but that's how it is - once they are in the quilt I think they are beautiful - I use them from time to time. And I say - buh-teek (pronunciation)

    \bə-ˈtēk, ˈba-tik\

I ran these by my daughter who has done oodles of linguistics courses and she says that they are two entirely different pronunciations... we all win!

    Buh-teak and Baa-tick

    Thanks for asking that!

One can always just point at what one wants and totally avoid the pronunciation issue.

I know how to pronounce Chanel no. 5, Mercedes, and trip to New York City. I just cannot afford any of them.
