When I bought my Bernina 440 I did not buy the embroidery attachment thinking I would buy it at a later date. Well now they are retiring the 440 and the 430,and I was wondering if I should buy it now while it is still available. Does anyone have the embroidery attachment and what do you think of it? is it easy to use? Etc

I have it and don't use it much. Never had any problems and found it easy to use. The expense comes I. Upgrading the software every time there is an upgrade, but that happens with other brands also. I bought the largest hoop made for the machine which wasn't cheap but worth the money. Got it on sale which helped. Like any other Bernina product, it is quality. Just make sure you get lessons from your store.

I see them used periodically for $400-500 on SewItsForSale, a yahoo group. I *think* it's the same module as the Artistas use, so no hurry necessarily.

I have the 440 and the embroidery attachment. LOVE it. I have not upgraded the software because i have not mastered the Editor lite that came with my machine yet therefore for the price i would get the attachment. worth it.

I have the 440 and the embroidery unit. I absolutely LOVE both. However, I will say that embroidery "stuff" is definitely not cheap. The Artista 6 software was right at $2000. I have all of the hoops and they weren't cheap either. I guess it just all depends on what YOU want to do.

I specifically asked about this at my husband's local dealer. They phoned Bernina on my behalf and said that because it also tied in with another line of machines that's NOT being retired, the embroidery module would continue to be sold.

Thank you all for your help. I am not sure what I am going to do, I don't know if I would ever use it.
