Me too. I hope she comes to her senses before she's a bitter and lonely old woman. What a way to go through life. And my heart goes out to your friend, too. I hope her cousin's attitude doesn't keep her from continuing to quilt and enjoying your company.

that cousin is a very unhappy insecure girl, not trying to excuse her, but the only way she can feel good about herself is to put down others. And of course that will never make her happy. You handled it well, but forgive her, very likely she never had loving parents or family & this is her attempt to try to feel good about herself. It doesn't work, she may never realize that.

I can't imagine how you held your tongue all that time. You have the patience of a saint and the eloquence of a scholar. You couldn't have put this ill mannered, uneducated insulting woman in her place any better.   to you dear wonderful lady. I'm sending you hugs and happy quilting from now on. :D :D :D

You did a really great with the cousin. I have not been quilting long and my first quilt took about 6 months to make I gave it to my son for a wedding present, It was a cal-king 120 X 140 in. I went to his house recently he had it in the corner of his livingroom for the dogs and cats to sleep on. I CRIED all the way home. Some people just don't understand all the work time, energy and money that we put into our creations. Good going wish I had said something to my son.

If the cousin couldn't say something nasty, she wouldn't say anything at all.
She definately has an insecurity problem.

This is the third story I've read where a quilter said her friend or relative came over and asked to bring someone to view their work and said invited person basically goes on a rant about how the quilter is "doing it wrong". Very rude.

But I applaud your friend for starting to drag her cousin out. In the other stories the person who invited the quilt police didn't do anything. And great job on how you handled it yourself.

Leave it to a 20 something, nonquilter to think she had a quilt police badge. I say we throw her in the klink and not let her out until she can make a quilt to our liking. lol.
