I've been thinking how neat it would be to get together with some of you guys and have a weekend quilt retreat. Now, lets just say that everybody could afford the trip and had time off from work. Would you come for a weekend of fun and sharing and getting together with all the people you've become aquainted with here? I would.

I would. It sounds like fun. I just can't imagine we would get much quilting done! Not that I do anyway-partly thanks to this board. It seems my "someday" list has grown exponentially and my sewing time has been drastically reduced!

There is a retreat in October at Ripley WV. Week of Columbus Day. Large event. Great time. Anyone on the board going could get together for some get acquainted time. You can get info from Cedar Lakes Retreat Center. I understand there are still a few spots left. Very reasonable price. It is half way between Charlston WV and Parkersburg WV - close to Ohio. I'll be teaching 3 classes.
Some years ago there was a means of identifying list members who attended quilt shows. They wore a yellow yoyo to be recognized. A similar means could be done for members of this board. Such as a white or red or some other color yoyo. It was very distinctive. The Stencil Co booth was a central meeting point for members which was convenient.

" retreat in October at Ripley WV."

This made me notice because 12 years ago I attended an Elderhostel week in Ripley WV to learn how to quilt. It was situated in a park with craft buildings, dining hall and motel rooms, probably the same place that the retreat is being held at. Found out I was the only one in the class who didn't know how to quilt but have to say the instructor really taught me the basics. Would you believe I didn't know what a 1/4" seam was, didn't have a 1/4" foot and brought a dozen pins to pin my quilt with. Quilt pattern was Many Trips Around the World and almost every seam was off but I learned a lot from my mistakes. May in Jersey

It sounds like fun, but I'm afraid I'm a bit too far away! I would organize one in Montana if any of you would be willing to come!

marlys.....you might be surprised and who would come.....Doesnt the Scriptures say something like....."where two or three are gathered together.
You fill in the rest like........and quilts will be made.

You should have one!! We had twice as many ladies at our last one. Not really any formal classes, just bring projects. It has been fun to meet others from the board. Some of the other things we have done are visit quilt shops, meet up at quilt shows, and we gather at each other's houses about every 2 months.
This is a link to our second trip:

KarneBarnes has organized both and she did a great job!
