1) I would have trouble lining it up exactly and end up with the dreaded "V" in my strip, 2) I'd cut the ruler. Masonite is no match for a sharp rotary cutter and 3) I need the slot in the June T to keep the cutter from veering off away from the ruler. I'll stick with my June T, too.

Should mention that I have had my June Tailor mat slip when I wasn't paying attention. Adding Grip Strips to it has helped a lot; in fact, I like them on all the rulers I have added them to. Had tried many other gripping things before these (sandpaper dots, etc.) but like the Grip Strips the best so far. Here is a link:

I don't get much slippage with my June Tailor rulers. I line up the ruler and make that first cut (usually to trim off an edge) - after that first cut I lift the ruler and pull out the cut piece and then lay the ruler back down; now I can sort of butt the fabric up against the strip of plastic next to where I just cut. It's almost like the ruler grips the fabric at that point. I double check that everything is still straight and then "zip, zip, zip" I've made my other cuts and everything lines up precisely where it should.
LOVE those rulers!

I use the TrueCut pads to prevent slipping. On the Shape Cut, I had to cut the circles in half, but I even used the little center dots. I would put one about every 3" and space them at 3", 6" and 9".

I saw them too but the cost of getting the sizes that I would use most is a bit too expensive. I have the June Taylor Pro but I still am having trouble fighting to get my blade in the slot and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know how dangerous that could be.

I gave the acrylic ruler by Olfa 2 1/2 x 18 that does have markings. Since I use that width a lot, I find it very handy. The sticks look nice enough but for me too long. Also have 3 x 18 and 5 x 18 which I find helpful. Have the June tailor but never got around to using it. All depends on what works best for you.

I agree with the June Taylor shape cut. If you have issues with it slipping try some of the True Grips by True Cut (a Grace Company). They are little round rubber pieces that stick onto your ruler - I really love these. Or there are some foam stips by Steady Betty. I have tried a lot of them and the True Grips are my favorite.
