I am my own long arm quilter and don't do well with quilts that have no borders. If I decide I don't want borders, I make every block on the outside at least 1/2" to 1" wider to allow for squaring and binding. I don't know if this is how others do it, but it works for me. Even with borders, I will add an extra inch to the final border for the squaring and trimming up. Just makes me a lot more relaxed.

I'm a quilter and we are encouraged to trim. The presentation is better if we trim.BUT,I decided a long time ago it would take an extra hour to do and if it was my quilt I would retrim anyway. Also, when I trimmed I would leave an inch.So what was the point? It has been a long time since I took my classes and hopefully they don't encourage new quilters to trim.

Square it up, Sew your binding on, place a strip of batting along the edge, fold over your binding and sew to the back and it should be fine. As mentioned, if the quilt is for lots of use and not a wall hanging etc, no one will notice.

The only thing that comes to mind is to quilt each seam on the top when you go to quilt it. Maybe use a decorative stitch and stitch along each seam even before you quilt it. Maybe like a crazy quilt. Would be a lot of work but might keep the squares from unraveling.

Agree! This is not a big problem to solve. Square it up and add a regular binding. The fudge factor is so low it will never be noticed by anyone. AND there is no need to point it out to any one either!!!! Enjoy this sweet quilt.
