Does anyone use a wooden quilting frame that has stationary width rollers? I cant figure out how to put a quilt in one that was given to me. It has wooden cogs that go in opposite directions. I cant baste the quilt or square it up frame. The distance is about 24 inches front to back with the length about 6 ft or more.

I have one that is about 50 years old, so not sure if this is going to help.
does the 6ft pieces have a muslin strip down the entire length> if so... you safety pin your quilt to it, once your pined to both 6 ft pieces, then you roll if up tight, any chance you can take a picture.

so, if I pin this to the muslin strips on the two long rods, I just have to let bulk of the quilt drop to the floor between the rods till I roll it tight from both front and back rods correct?? This will let me quilt from the middle out right?

It sounds like you can pin a basted quilt sandwich to one side to the long rail, then roll the quilt on it and pin the end to the second long rail. I use regular quilter straight pins.
Then you can roll to the center, adjust the tension, and start quilting. The fabric on the shorter ends can be used to adjust the side tension - I do that on my frame sometimes.
