I use Metro brand machine embroidery thread, never have a problem with it, or with the machine, and you sure can't beat their prices and customer service.

Check the Superior Threads website. They have some great information about which types of threads are best for which type of sewing. Of course, they want you to buy their line, which is a good product.

I have a bunch of Isaacord Embroidery thread I bought off of Ebay in a "lot". It is 100% poly, strong, which means I don't break it when I move my fabric around too fast. It is great. Janome 8900.

I'm the same as Jeanne S....I have used Gutermann natural cotton for at least 10-15 years. I also use it on my longarm (Innova). I am always able to purchase it for 1/2 price when Joann's has a coupon sale.

I've become a convert to Maxi-lock serger thread (100% polyester). I like to FMQ rather fast with my Juki TL2010Q and this thread handles it quite well. I've got a wide collection of threads that I have tried and while none have *failed* so to speak, some are a lot lintier than others. When I have used any cotton thread, such as Gutermann, Aurifil, Threadart, C&C, I end up with more lint (and with C&C, a lot more lint). I have found I need to take my plate off and clean a lot less with the Maxi-Lock than anything else I have used. It also has the advantage of being very economical, as I have been getting it at Wawak.com for $1.79 for 3000 meters. I've gone through 4 cones of this thread in the past two months and like it more all the time.

I have been using mono poly invisible thread on top, and a polyester thread on the bottom.

Almost any thread will work, however DO NOT USE THE THREAD THAT SAYS QUILTING THREAD ON IT - I believe this is a Coats and Clark as it has a coating and will come off in your machine. I think it is really made for hand quilting and that coating keeps it from getting tangled so much on the needle.

My machines (Brothers) are not fussy so I use Coats and Clark mostly. Even on the vintage machines. I have other brands and they work fine too.
