I am a quilting tool junkie. I have many different size Gingher scissors (two have tiny serrated cutting edges) and several Fiskars. I wouldn't want to be without any of them.
I tried the Angler II, and thought it was a waste of money. Does anyone use it and like it? Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance.
I like both Olfa and Fiskar rotary cutters, and use an Olfa pinking rotary cutter to cut the raw edges of fabric before I wash it - much less raveling. Creative Grid rulers are my very, very favorite but I have some other brands also.

Hobbico is my favorite mini iron. I haven't even used my Clover mini iron since I got my Hobbico.

I absolutely wouldn't be without my Quilter's Delight pin covers and my Kwik Klip. These are definitely a must-have for quilters who use safety pins to baste their quilts. No more sore fingers.

Rose Marie, I love the idea of using quilt clips to hold the backing instead of tape.

The clips are great for the backing but for the batting and top I use the big black office clamps that you can buy at the dollar store for a buck.

I too am a gadget junkie. I love anything new and improved lol. I get STUFF that I don't even need and then start something new. They say you need this or that, I have already purchased this or that .. Example, ruler for paper piecing, had it already long before I even thought of paper piecing. Patterns, I have tons, most of them from Quilters cache, but printed out and stock piled. My memory isn't what it used to be so I am afraid that I won't remember what or where which has happened before. Do I qualify???

Have you done any paper piecing? If so, how do you like it? I also had my ruler long before I paper pieced anything. I love pp now, so my ruler gets regular use. :lol:

Fiskars Titanium Nitride Scissors Set (2 Pairs)

Gingher 6" Knife Edge Applique Scissors
They are made of chrome over nickel scissors are great for applique. The duckbill keeps one edge of the fabric away from the blade while pushing the edge you want to cut up to the sharp blade. The handles are offset to provide you with a good view of the fabric while cutting.

I have one pair of fiskars, one pair of ginghers which I love, one pair of ginghers pinking shears, and several pairs of tiny pointed scissors for cutting thread and doing my hand quilting. I have one olfa 45 mm rotary cutter-- it works, but nothing to write home about and one olfa 45 mm rotary with a scalloped edge which I use for cutting silk dupioni squares. I make silk and velvet patchwork throws. Lots of raveling edges and the scalloped rotary cutter really helps. I have about 3 rulers, 2 mats and would like a much bigger one. My best sewing notion is a ripper. I never hesistate to use it. Also, I have 3 thimbles for the days my finger is a different size -- swelling, etc.
Pretty basic, but then I spend the $ on the fabric.

Minda... I am just now learning how to paper piece, do like it alot, its different and I guess that is what attracts me. So now I too can use my rulers alot. I use the longer one the most, shorter one doesn't seem to cut it, but am sure that as time goes on and I get into it and do small pieces I will be glad I have it. Fun fun fun...
