Hello and Welcome to this special circle of people who have made the same mistaks while learning, will understand and give you wonderful advice on how to fix it. As to the sissors, I keep a small pair, embrodery sissors. They work for me.

I do a lot of hand applique and I LOVE the 4" scissors made by KAI. If you do not want to spend the extra for KAI brand, Omni sells a small 4" scissor with yellow handles and low and behold, they are made by KAI. They have a slightly serrated edge which grips the fabric as you snip that little critter. You will love them. Watch for specials on the KAI scissors at the larger quilt shows. They will usually have a special on 3 sizes of the KAI brand for $39.95.
