I starch before cutting out...this makes the fabric stiff and easy to cut and then if you like you could starch the 2 squares together...works as well as glue and less messy...if you have a lot to cut...starch the strips together before cutting squares...

Could be too much pressure on the foot.
I don't recall have that problem. May be a good idea to cut a little bigger then trim, if all else fails to solve the problem. I don't starch anything.

Sometimes just ironing them together without starch keeps them together long enough to sew......

Is it cheating to sew BEFORE you cut?

I always over cut (think Eleanor Burns) my squares then trim after I sew them together. I also starch rather heavily.

Try starching fabric putting together then cutting out together.

When I use wonder clips I have to remove them when I sew. Otherwise they're in the way.
