Where do you have your sewing machine serviced? And how often? I had always taken mine to a factory authorized rep and then had a very bad experience so I'm curious.

I take my Babylocks to my dealer for service. My embroidery machine goes when I have 5 million stitches on her. I take my Symphony in every year or year and a half....depending on how much I have been sewing. I do clean mine thoroughly very often and I know a bit about maintenance on them so that figures in. Never had a bad experience, but my dealer is awesome!

I take my Bernina once a year to the nearest Bernina dealer to be serviced. Although I have moved several times, I have always been pleased with the service from Bernina dealers. I service my Featherweight myself. I must admit that when I had other brands of machines, e.g., Elna, Universal, Kenmore, I never took them in to be serviced and they always worked fine.

All I have are vintage machines. I don't take them in. I take care of them myself and my Son helps.

I take mine to a certified dealer/repairman....be sure to specify exactly what is wrong with the machine and when you pick it up, be sure to test drive it before you leave to make sure it has been corrected.

I try not to take my much-loved Bernina in. It's been so many years, I might have to do it sometime in the next few years. Everything works wonderfully well, and I do my best to keep it clean, but I know there are interior parts that I can't get to. If and when I do take it in, I don't have a lot of choices if I want to keep driving time reasonable. Even so, I will probably drop in at the dealership and chat a bit with the salespeople to get a feel for the quality of the techs, turnaround time, etc.

You could check with your local quilt shops and guild for recommendations. Referrals from other quilters would go a loooooong way with me.

I take my Bernina to my dealer - about every year maybe year and a half. The manual says every 3 million stitches. Just took it in for service and updating about 6 weeks ago - have 250,000 stitches on it since then. I oil it and clean it a lot on my own.

I take my machines to my Elna dealer about once a year, depending on when I go down to Fresno. I trust him and my machines are always taken care of. I've referred several people to him and they've always told me that their machines haven't run that well in years. If you're not happy with the one that's servicing your machine, I would find someone else. If you belong to some kind of quilt group, ask members who they have service their machines.

I take mine to the closest Bernina dealer which is about 20 minutes away. It is going in next week. A friend works in that area, and she is going to drop them off one day, and pick them up the next (we called and made an appointment). If I have been sewing a lot, I will do it yearly. But this time it has been 2 years since I have had it done. My sewing time has been minimal, so I decided it didn't need to go in after 1 year.
