I would not have been shocked except to note that he actually made a comment. That the comment was a compliment is a bonus!!!!! Now you have given me an idea - a solid color 10-minute block quilt!! Hot Diggity!!

I would like to make an all neutral color quilt from light to dark neutrals.

I someday want to make an all white quilt. Perhaps the lack of color was just his preference and/or maybe he liked that he could see the quilting so well. Her quilt sounds beautiful.

Somewhat off topic but my DIL once told me my scent (Chanel #5) was "old lady perfume!"

Just speaks to different peoples' taste. I wouldn't take it personally. I hate yellow. Most people say, "Oh, it is so cheerful. How can you hate it?" I believe it is cheerful for them but to me it is extremely depressing. Just different tastes.

On another note, I know paper piecing is a lot of work but as a general rule I don't like the appearance of most things paper pieced. They look too choppy to me. So, I might say to someone that paper pieced a lot and finally made a 9-patch, "This is my favorite quilt you have made." My taste, not a comment on their work.

I am taking the Free Craftsy BOM club. I proudly took my blocks into a co-worker who quilts, since she had never made some of these blocks. Her comments--"I would have never used THAT color." Hurtful--yes. So I will not be showing my blocks off to her again. Yes, everyone like different things and that is what makes the world interesting. However, comments that are meant to demean (even unintentional) are not necessary. That is why I so enjoy this board....everyone is so positive and praises each other. We are special people!
All WHITE quilt---go for it!! LOTS OF CRAZY COLOR--I love it!

All the ladies in out group like it and the skill at it was done with the 10 minute blocks but disliked no colour.
People are like quilts (ALL DIFFERENT KINDS). Some people LOVE lots of colors etc., but others like simple (styles or colors). This is part of being a quilter (some times we make quilts we like and other times we make quilts that some one else will like), just remember it takes ALL KINDS. I'm sure the quilt is lovely.

Summer before last I make a quilt with various neutrals from very light beige to a darker tan. I'm not sure if that's what you mean by one color or not. http://knitnoid.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/nstdone.jpg Then there is the blue applecore quilt I made for my husband http://knitnoid.files.wordpress.com/...applefront.jpg and the blue row quilt I gave my brother and his wife http://knitnoid.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/rowquiltdone.jpg. There is a pink quilt too, but I'm not finding a picture of it at the moment. Seems like I made a couple more blue quilts. I had to use up all that blue fabric from the applecore quilt.

I am so blessed, John is able to look at a quilt and see the pattern, colors or not, creativity, workmanship, and ALWAYS finds something positive and wonderful about each one, and not just mine but those made by other people
