I cut 2 1/2 inch strips, and then fold in half, and iron. then sew to the front and hand stitch on the back.

Wow Now I'm getting confused. Always made about a 2 1/2 strip. fold in half, spray starch the heck out of it. stitch to the front and fold...hand stitch the back. Seems to look nice to me. :D

This is exactly how I do it. As someone stated earlier, we all do it differently, doesn't mean it's right or wrong. What works for one might not work for another!
